When it comes to photography equipment for content creators, we all know that most gear requires quite a hefty investment. I always do tons of research before I buy anything of any price, so trust me when I say I spent months researching camera gear before I purchased what I use today.
In my opinion and experience, this is the best photography equipment for content creators. And it will help you get the best results for your content, no matter whether you are an amateur or a professional. I absolutely love all my camera gear and I’m sure it can help you enhance your photography game as well. Enjoy reading!
Camera
If you are ready to invest and you are ready to upgrade, a professional camera is one of the best investments you can make for your photography or content creation venture. I’m not gonna lie, I am absolutely in love with my camera and take a crazy amount of photos as I just love the results it produces. It really is a massive step up from a phone camera.
There are tons of different options when it comes to camera brands and models, so it all depends on your budget and what your photography level is. For the mid-range, professional camera options I can highly recommend to you the Sony A7 III – one of the best cameras for content creators out there, that will help you get your photos to the next level! Paired with a good zoom lens like the Tamron 28-75mm it gives you a full range of options, perfect for capturing any type of photo.
Drone
Having a drone for that bird-eye view perspective in your content is truly something else when it comes to content creation and photography. It gives you an extra edge in your content as it allows you to capture from a unique view point that not many people can. In my opinion, a drone is a must addition in photography equipment for content creators, if you want to capture some unique footage. I love my DJI Mavic Air 2 for the quality of image and advanced settings. However, if you are looking for something more portable and more budget friendly, the DJI Mini 2 is a great alternative option!
Whichever drone you go for, I highly recommend you get it with the Fly More Combo as that way you get all the accessories you may need like extra batteries and multi-charger. These really make a difference when you want to capture more content in a single flight session rather than being limited by a short battery span of 30 minutes. And trust me, after your first flight you will already be in love with it and will want to fly for much longer! 🙂

GoPro – Action Camera
If you are planning on doing some adventure activities or diving, you need an action camera! The worst thing in the world is going home super excited to watch your footage from your dessert safari just to realise there’s not more than 2 seconds that the footage is steady. Trust me, I’ve been there.
When I got my GoPro Hero 9 everything changed. The newest action cameras have incredible stabilisation which means no matter how high intensity your activity is, you’ll get good steady footage from it. It’s an amazing addition to your camera gear, especially if you’re planning any adventure activities like white river rafting or diving.
It’s also perfect for vlogging with its wide lens, and it’s what I have mostly been using for my YouTube videos, if that is something you are looking to do.
Accessories for GoPro
Underwater dome for GoPro
Have you ever seen the unique half-surface, half-underwater photos that just seem impossible to take in real life? Well, they are possible with an underwater dome. The dome allows you to split the image at the level of the water surface, half of the image capturing what’s above the surface and half of it below the surface. It’s the perfect extra piece of photography equipment for content creators that can help you get some incredible shots!
The downside is that it’s not very portable as it’s quite big, but I love using it whenever my luggage allows it. It’s a really cool way to differentiate your photos and videos!
Floaty hand grip for diving & water activities
The floaty hand grip for GoPro is a must if you are planning going diving or any other water activities. It ensures that your GoPro stays afloat so you don’t have to worry about dropping it in the water and losing it. However, the wrist strap that is included keeps your camera tied to your wrist so you don’t have to worry about dropping it in the water at all! The stick itself helps you easily point the camera where you want and never miss the amazing shot of colourful fish swimming around you that we all want!
GoPro Mini extension pole with tripod
The GoPro mini extension pole technically acts as a selfie stick for your GoPro, allowing you to take photos and videos more conveniently from a distance. The tripod is also super useful for hands-off vlogging or photos. It’s my go to for filming food vlogs as I can easily place it on the table and record away!
Camera Tripod
Despite almost always having someone to help me take my photos, I believe a good, sturdy camera tripod is a must for content creators. It helps you get that super steady shot just as you like it, and it’s the perfect way for us to get some couple shots as well without having to ask people to take them for us. The best thing is that the tripod that I use from Manfrotto comes with a phone hold, which allows you to also also use it with your phone!
I also use my tripod all the time when I want to take a nice steady video with my camera, as the stability it offers is unmatched in comparison to being handheld. My best decision was swapping my cheap tripod from a market in Thailand for a real, steady one once I got my camera. The Manfrotto is small enough to travel with in your backpack, has multiple levels of height you can extend it to and can be used both for horizontal and vertical footage. And best of all, it gives me peace of mind that my camera isn’t going to smash on the floor every time the wind blows 😀
