If you are looking for an opportunity to escape from your hectic everyday life and enjoy a feeling of peace and relaxation, mixed in with a luxurious experience and true comfort – look no further than Ray Hotel in Corfu.
Located in the eastern part of Corfu’s Perama Bay, the hotel is the perfect place for a luxurious getaway. It fulfils every one of your expectations of a serene summer holiday on a Greek island.
Ray Hotel has everything you need within its grounds so you don’t even have to walk out the hotel if you don’t want to. With an immersive mediterranean-inspired restaurant, small but functional gym facilities, turquoise water pool with sun loungers and a pool bar. As well as access to the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea – the hotel really has everything you can wish for.
However, for those wanting to venture out and explore more of the island, the hotel’s proximity to Corfu Town allows for an easy day trip to Corfu Old Town. It’s also known as the ancient city of Korkyra, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site that any history lover should visit.
On the other hand, for a real Greek island experience, a boat tour of Paxos and Antipaxos islands is truly unmatched. Find out everything you need to know about the boat tour here and book your spots in advance to avoid disappointment. I couldn’t recommend this trip highly enough!
Accommodation
We were welcomed in our room with a plate full of fresh fruits and a view that is hard to forget. Looking out the balcony we were greeted by a panoramic view of the Ionian sea, crystal clear water beaches and the beautiful nature of the island.
It’s truly a feeling of paradise and I can guarantee you, you will be spending a lot of time on your balcony. Enjoying the views and watching the sunrise from your bedroom.
What’s more is that the proximity of the hotel to the airport creates an opportunity for a unique sight that you can’t experience in many places. Seeing the planes flying by with the sea horizon in the background creates a truly mesmerising view.
The best thing is that you don’t have to worry about any noise from the planes, as the rooms are perfectly soundproof and flights only run during daytime hours.
The design of the rooms and furniture are minimalist, with modern, contemporary touches that bring a true sense of luxury. After a long day of sunbathing and exploring the island, the comfort and softness of the bed brings a feeling of a peaceful bliss of heaven.
We were absolutely delighted by the room experience. However, if you are looking for something even more exquisite, Ray Hotel also has 12 deluxe villa suites. These come with a private pool for an even bigger sense of unique luxury.
Pool & Sea access
The pool
The best thing about Ray Hotel in Corfu is that its location gives you the option to spend the day by the turquoise water pool with a cocktail in hand, or enjoy a swim off the shore of the hotel in the Ionian Sea.
The pool has an island-vibe, bohemian design feel, ticking all the boxes for the ‘chill by the pool and worry about nothing’ holiday seekers.
With an array of sun loungers to choose from, you really get to enjoy a laid-back, relaxing experience by the pool. Accompanied by a refreshing cocktail in hand if you like.
The pool bar offers a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day, and I can wholeheartedly vouch for the refreshing taste of their mojitos.
While during lunch hours you can enjoy a delicious meal from the extensive lunch menu, the quality of which is on par with world-class restaurants.
Ionian Sea
If you prefer spending more time by the seaside, the hotel has easy access to the shore of the Ionian Sea. It’s perfect if you want to enjoy a peaceful swim in the tranquil salty waters.
The hotel also has plans of opening up a sun deck alongside the seashore for guests in summer ‘22. This will fully complete the seaside area and make it an unmatched experience.
We enjoyed a fair few swims in the sea during our stay which was the perfect way for us to end the day with the sun setting behind the hotel.
The tranquility and privacy offered by this secluded part of the bay makes you truly feel like one with nature. A feeling I long to experience again.
Food & Drinks at Ray Hotel
The hotel restaurant is situated on the cliff-side of the hotel, opening up a stunning seaside panorama. A true 5* restaurant view, that you wouldn’t even imagine it’s part of a hotel. But the view wasn’t the only thing that amazed us.
When I say that you don’t even have to step foot outside the hotel to enjoy all the best culinary tastes from Corfu, I’m not exaggerating. Here food is served both for breakfast and dinner, in one of the most sophisticated and extensive buffet arrangements.
Breakfast
The continental breakfast buffet was so impressive that it made breakfast our favourite part of the day. With a vast choice of options, you could mix and match items from different cuisines.
A typical English breakfast, fresh Mediterranean cuisine as well as pastries that even Parisian patisseries would approve of.
My go-to was smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and orange juice, and a bowl of fruit to satisfy my sweet tooth. That, and a freshly baked croissant that I couldn’t resist most mornings.
Lunch
For lunch or an afternoon snack, you can enjoy a beautifully prepared meal from the pool bar’s à la carte menu. Here you are no less spoiled for choice, and we decided to go for the pasta which was absolutely delicious.
The best thing is that you can enjoy your lunch both at one of the pool side tables, or directly on your sun lounger. All while continuing your sunbathing session.
As I mentioned before, the pool bar also offers a variety of delicious, beautifully decorated cocktails that you can enjoy throughout the day or later in the evening after dinner.
Dinner
Speaking of dinner, come sunset, and the dinner buffet at the hotel’s restaurant is just as varied and tempting as it is at breakfast. You will feel so spoiled for options that you’ll probably want to attempt to try a little bit of everything. I loved that there was plenty to choose from no matter your food preferences.
With good meat, fish and vegetarian options. The view outside is just as stunning in the evening as the sky changes its colours to all shades of orange, and then purple.
It’s the perfect romantic setting to enjoy a glass of wine, while watching the planes pass by in the distance.
Final thoughts of Ray Hotel, Corfu
Everything about Ray Hotel has been thoughtfully designed with the guest experience in mind. We loved waking up to the sunrise and watching it from our balcony with a cup of tea.
Spending our days by the pool and swimming in the Ionian Sea in the afternoon. And enjoying a beautiful meal in the evening.
Ray Hotel is perfect for a relaxing holiday, and the perfect place to indulge in luxury away from the noise of the city. It’s a true piece of paradise and tranquility.
